Phase 1 of dredging along the Bellingham Shipping Terminal began two days ago, Port of Bellingham said.

The contractor, American Construction, will operate in the waterway 24/7, in order to complete this portion of the project within the in-water work window – set to be completed on February 15th.

In addition to the dredging operations, in a phased approach, pier repairs will take place over the next 18 months to increase pier capacity and improve stormwater collection and treatment.

The Bellingham Shipping Terminal Modernization Project is supported by a $6.85 Million Federal Grant.
