Earlier this month, hopper dredge Modi R of Rhode Neilsen commenced maintenance dredging of the main shipping channel and outer and inner harbors at the Port of Bunbury, Western Australia.
Also taking part in the dredging operations are plough / seabed levelling tug Edi and trawler Amanda Verne K.
The purpose of the maintenance program is to maximize the depth, safety and efficiency of the channels and berths within the Port of Bunbury.
Dredging works are usually undertaken twice a year at the Port of Bunbury. A trailer suction dredge removes naturally accumulated sand and silt from the shipping channel and outer harbour berths, and deposits the material at the ocean spoil ground.
This dredging campaign, which started on Saturday 2 March 2024, is expected to be completed within the next two to three weeks.
