The Balkan Shipyard and Ship Repair Plant in Turkmenistan will begin assembling a Damen CSD650 cutter suction dredger (CSD) in the following days.
The assembly of the new CSD is carried out by an order of the Söwda Gurluşyk Maslahat enterprise, said the Agency of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan.
Recently, a representative of the Balkan Shipyard visited Damen shipyard in Nijkerk, the Netherlands, and took part in testing of the dredger.
“ This allowed him to become familiar with the technical characteristics of the vessel and the features of its operation ,” said the Agency.
The Damen CSD650 is a self-propelled or stationary vessel that uses a rotating cutter head to loosen the material in the hard ground.
The CSD can work in water depths up to -25 m. According to Damen, the suction ladder incorporates a submerged dredge pump, which works in series with the inboard dredge pump.
