The Department of Transport (DoT) WA has commenced maintenance dredging works at the Exmouth Boat Harbour (EBH).

Occasional maintenance dredging is required in the basin and entrance channel of the EBH to maintain navigable depths for commercial and recreational users of the harbour.

This campaign will mainly occur Monday to Sunday between the hours of 0700 and 1900hrs, with provision to take place during hours of darkness, if required, announced DOT in a press release.

The works involve the use of an 18m cutter suction dredge “Ironheart” to pump dredged material through a pipeline to the Town Beach Disposal Site.

The $1 million dredging campaign funded by the State Government, will see about 20,000 cubic meters of material removed to reinstate the original channel width and ensure safe navigation until the next campaign, due in 2029.

Exmouth Boat Harbour maintenance dredging project is expected to wrap up in late July 2024.
