Dredging remains a cornerstone of marine construction, necessitating a deep understanding of cost standards to navigate its capital-intensive nature.

Today, following the CIRIA 2009 publication of A guide to cost standards for dredging equipment, International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) announced the release of the newly updated version.

The 2024 edition is designed to equip stakeholders with the latest insights and methodologies for assessing costs within the dredging industry, empowering them with the most up-to-date information available.

The purpose of the publication is to provide a standardized approach for assessing the 2024 replacement capital and associated costs associated with a range of dredging equipment and auxiliary machinery commonly used in such projects, offer a uniform method for evaluating the replacement capital and related costs for various dredging equipment and supplementary machinery frequently employed dredging projects.

The addition of new larger equipment and the implementation of sustainability measures on board dredgers necessitated an update of the CIRIA 2009 edition.

Topics presented within the new version of A guide to cost standards for dredging equipment 2024 include: • Detailed analysis of common dredging equipment types; • Examination of cost philosophy adhering to global industry norms; • Tabulated cost figures for different dredger sizes; • Methodologies for assessing costs of non-standard dredging equipment; • Standardized approach to establishing capital and related costs; and • Sustainability factors for certain dredging equipment.
