Bundaberg Regional Council, QLD, has commenced much needed sand nourishment works at Woodgate Beach.
According to Bundaberg Mayor, Helen Blackburn, the project comes as a part of a Shoreline Erosion Management Plan (SEMP) which aims to protect the foreshore land vulnerable to erosion.
The sand nourishment will cover a 700-metre stretch south of the boat ramp with plans to extend further towards Second Avenue, pending future State Government permits.
Additionally, a rock wall will be built on either side of the boat ramp and will be buried under half a meter of sand to maintain the beach’s natural appearance.
The contractor for the works, LCB Civil Pty Ltd is aiming to complete the project by mid-December 2024.
