In order to establish and maintain a safe, navigable entrance to the Tweed River, New South Wales and Queensland State Governments will soon begin the next Tweed River dredging campaign.

Dredging is expected to start in mid July 2024 and will take approximately 4-6 weeks. The works will keep the Entrance safe and clear of sand for the commercial and recreational boating community.

Approximately 140,000 cubic meters of sand will be dredged from the Tweed River and delivered to nearby Bilinga (approximately 50,000m3), Duranbah (approximately 40,000m3), and Fingal Beach (approximately 50,000m3).

Similar to last year’s campaign, Rohde Nielsen’s hopper dredger ‘Trud R’ will be responsible for dredging the Tweed River Entrance.
