Ten years after their last major dredging project in Poland, Boskalis is now kicking off another major dredging work in the country.
Using the trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Freeway , the Dutch giant is now dredging sand and silt to both deepen and expand the access channel to the new Swinoujscie offshore terminal.
“ Poland wants to use the offshore terminal, located a stone’s throw from the border with Germany, in the near future to load and unload components for offshore wind farms ,” said Boskalis.
“This requires more space on the quay and more depth in the water. Thus, with our dredging work we are not only contributing to the development of port infrastructure, but also to the energy transition .”
