The Cayman Islands Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport & Development said that Kaibo Public Beach Park will be temporarily closed to the public effective September 9, 2024.
This necessary but temporary closure is to ensure public safety while essential beach replenishment works and critical infrastructural improvements are carried out.
Minister Jay Ebanks said: “ The upgrades to Kaibo Public Beach Park will transform this beloved space into a more functional and enjoyable destination for all residents and visitors. While temporary closures may be inconvenient, the long-term benefits of a restored coastline, modernized amenities, and enhanced infrastructure will make the park even better than before. “
The initial phase of works, which will start next week, includes site preparation activities, ensuring a safe and secure environment while improvements are made.
These preliminary works will not yet include the full reconstruction or coastal enhancement phase but will focus on setting the groundwork for future upgrades.
