Don Punch MLA, Minister for Regional Development, provided an update in Parliament yesterday on the latest developments taking place at the Bunbury waterfront.
“ Recently, I joined Minister David Michael to announce the Department Of Transport had awarded a milestone $69.2 million contract to build the new 460m northern breakwater at Casuarina Boat Harbor ,” said Punch .
According to the official, these works form part of the Transforming Bunbury Waterfront Project, providing critical new infrastructure that will underpin the rejuvenation of the harbor as a regional marine hub.
Also, the project is an election commitment made by the Cook Labor Government and builds on the work of previous Labor Government’s – beginning with the Bunbury 2000 initiative.
“ The dredging component is already underway, and I look forward to construction of the northern breakwater getting started in the coming weeks, ” added Punch.
“Once complete, it will not only provide amazing facilities for local residents but will also add value to the local economy through tourism and other business opportunities.”
