Pilbara Ports said that the Lumsden Point teams have been hard at work, and approximately 30% of the dredging work is now complete.
“ Working from east to west, they’re well on track to completing the dredging, creating a deeper access channel, swing basin and berth pockets, by the end of November ,” according to their latest project update.
Earlier this year, Jan De Nul (Australia) Pty Ltd was awarded the contract for these vital dredging and land reclamation activities.
Also, environmental monitoring is being carried out as part of the dredging program to minimize the risk of impact to surrounding habitats.
Dredged material is being disposed of at a designated reclamation area within Lumsden in accordance with an approved Environmental Management Plan.
