The Army Corps’ New England District Commander Col. Justin Pabis recently visited the Josias River dredging project in Ogunquit, ME.
The purpose of this project is to dredge the shoaled areas of the river and restore the channel and associated anchorage areas to their authorized depths.
The project consists of maintenance dredging of approx. 10,700 cubic yards of shoaled silt and sand/gravel.
The work will provide a 40-foot-wide channel authorized to the depth of 7-feet that begins where Perkins Cove meets the Gulf of Maine and extends to the mouth of the Josias River.
The Josias River is being dredged using a bucket dredge, with the material put in scows and placed at Isles of Shoals North (IOSN) disposal site.
