To address weed growth and sediment build up within the Port of Orillia, Ontario, dredging will take place over the next few months.

The project was approved as part of the 2024 Budget process and has been awarded to Galcon Marine Ltd.

The contractor has now mobilized on site and has launched a small tugboat and several barges into the water, which will be used to complete the dredging.

The project is taking place over the winter months as a means to mitigate impact on Port of Orillia operations and the waterfront during the busy summer season.

It is anticipated the project will be complete in early spring 2025. The budget for this project is $1.6 million.
