The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has procured dredging equipment for the Alau Dam cleanup program in Borno State, NIgeria.
NEDC’s Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali , disclosed this yesterday during the inspection of the dredging equipment parked at the premises of the commission’s central store in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Alkali said that the reason for procuring these Naira Excavators is to prevent future flooding that can lead to loss of lives and destruction of properties as experienced in Maiduguri and Jere local government areas of the state last year.
He also stressed the need to take swift and preventive measures against unforeseen disasters, adding that “ everyone knew what happened with Alau Dam, and we need this kind of equipment to do the dredging of the Dam .”
