Dredging at Brian Byrnes Reserve about to begin

Auckland Council Healthy Waters said that the emergency works at Brian Byrnes Reserve are scheduled to start this Monday, February 24.

According to the council, these works will include fish management and dredging operations .

Sediment and erosion controls will be put in place downstream to minimize sediment movement.

“ This is part of our continued response to the 27 January 2023 floods, this stream maintenance will help prevent excess sediment which is creating blockages as we want to prevent flood risks to downstream and adjacent properties ,” the officials said.

Works are estimated to be completed by Wednesday, March 5, the council said.
