The USACE Baltimore District has just released this very interesting video about the annual Baltimore Harbor & channels maintenance dredging, with USACE project manager Kevin Fenyak and Rob Collaro, a project manager with contractor Curtin Maritime.
In coordination with their partners at the Port of Baltimore, this project consists of dredging approximately 2.3 million cubic yards of material from federal channels in Maryland to ensure continued safe navigation for vessels traveling in and out of the Port of Baltimore.
This year, dredge material is being removed with an innovative, hybrid-powered clamshell dredge before it is transported to its respective placement site.
