Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) said that the Cameron Parish Gulf Shoreline Stabilization Project is nearing completion.
According to CPRA, this project adds a second interior line of breakwaters along Little Florida and Constance beaches, enhancing the existing shoreline protection system.

“ These new breakwaters help trap sediment and retain valuable shell hash, the natural mix of shell fragments that helps build and stabilize beaches ,” CPRA said. “This stretch of coastline has experienced significant erosion from Gulf wave action and was heavily impacted by Hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020.”
In total, the project constructed 7,000 linear feet of shoreline protection to help reduce erosion, strengthen the shoreline, and improve the area’s resilience.
